Banobagi Hospital does not perform a square jaw reduction by cutting the jaw angles in a straight line. Instead, a curve osteotomy technique is used when excising square jaw angles to create a harmonious look and a perfect line. This type of technique requires a high level of difficulty. Moreover, Banobagi Hospital also provides Botox treatment and a facial liposuction based on patient’s conditions and need.
Banobagi Hospital performs a curved osteotomy along with a long curve osteotomy to maintain natural appearance of the jawline. Even though this is a very difficult method, with Banobagi's advanced surgical techniques, the operation time is shortened and the jawline also maintains its natural look.
The cortical bone maintains the facial bone strength and it is connected with spongy bone (cancellous bone). The cortical osteotomy technique is used when the lower jaw angle is thick making the lower face looks wide from the front aspect. It is also used when patients desire a major change on their frontal appearance. Excision of the cortical bone is approximately 1-2 mm thick so this may not show a significant change. However, it will be 2-3 times effective if this technique is performed with an ‘All for One’ surgical procedure which reducing both facial fat and muscles simultaneously.
The jaw muscles can be developed by chewing hard and sticky food like a dried squid, then square jaw angle look is created. In this case, Botox prevents neurotransmitter transfer to receptors in the muscle and induces reduction of the jaw line muscles movement and/or size. If Botox is continuously injected, the muscle may not gain its recovery and can be resulted in a permanent effect.
